some good books, if you like sort of fantasy or fiction, are the Pendragon series. Theres about 5 or 6 different books in the series. Really good books i think

I started Eragon, but got bored about forty pages in. I'm probably not going to read Eldest or the third book since I don't like the writing.

it was sort of dull in the beginning, but it picked up. the guy was only 19 when he started writing it, i think he did pretty good.

I don't think that his age should matter when it comes to writing. The Outsiders was published when S.E. Hinton was only sixteen, which I didn't even know until about halfway through. I believe that age should have no bearing on the praise a book receives, but then again I don't think that someone like Christopher Paolini should be compared to Robert Jordan unless you're comparing their first novels that were published.
Speaking of which, I recommend anything by Douglas Adams. His books are fantastic, especially the Dirk Gently novels.

i just wanna say that i hated the outsides, i really didnt like ponyboy, which, unfortunatley, was the main character, i just thought it wasnt exciting, anyone read "Shane"? i think it was terrible, not to mention boring, *sigh*.... whatever

I would like to read The Warriors by Sol Yurick. I heard at parts it's quite brutal and violent, but I'm a huge fan of the movie and I'm interested in reading the book.
